The Lagos Knights of the Blind Cyber Lions Club in conjunction with the Boys Scout, Lagos Council, held an enlightenment programme with the theme ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development’ to mark the International Youth Day 2024.

After the electrifying parade by the Boy’s Scouts which kicked off the event, the youths numbering over a hundred were taught different ways they could make use of digital technology positively.

The Vice President, Lagos Knights of the Blind Cyber Lions Club, Lion Juliet Martins, in her address, disclosed that the event was among many others Lions International put together to celebrate the International Youth Day 2024.

“As we celebrate this day, we recognise the transformative power of digitalisation in reshaping our world, Martins said, adding, “digital technologies like mobile devices, digital services, and artificial intelligence are crucial in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

“The data generated from digital interactions fuels evidence-based decision-making, enabling us to make informed choices for a sustainable future.” Martins said she was thrilled to see young people leading the charge in digital adoption and innovation.

“As ‘digital natives,’ you have the power to drive change and create solutions. Your innovative spirit and technological expertise are vital in addressing global issues, especially as we approach the 2030 deadline for the SDGs.” She counseled the youth to use the Internet in a positive way, which will bring about the desired development in the society.
