Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing one of Bayern Munich’s outcasts in the summer transfer window.
Former Manchester City captain and ex-Burnely boss Vincent Kompany was confirmed as Bayern’s new head coach last month, replacing Thomas Tuchel.
Since then, it has been reported that the Bavarian club will allow as many as six players to leave in the summer transfer window.
The club are hoping to raise funds for their summer business, with sales ‘urgently needed’.
The players who could be sold include Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Noussair Mazraoui.
As reported by Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg, United are keeping a close eye on De Ligt’s situation.
He wrote on social media: “Understand Manchester United is closely monitoring the situation of Matthijs de Ligt! Erik ten Hag is still a big fan of de Ligt, and #MUFC is looking for a new centre-back.
“De Ligt is allowed to leave FC Bayern for a suitable offer. Also, because Ito will sign today…”
De Ligt, who is currently away with the Netherlands ahead of Euro 2024, has recently spoken about his future.

As transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote on social media: “Matthijs de Ligt on his future and links: “I’ve already said this is not the time for me to think about it”.
“But I’ve now played my second season at Bayern and I’m very happy. For now I’m focused on the Euros and then… we’ll see what happens.”
United are reportedly looking to add more defensive options for Erik ten Hag after the departure of Raphael Varane, who left Old Trafford upon the expiration of his contract.
Also, the likes of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have also been linked with a move away from the Red Devils.
