Manchester City will reportedly reject any offers for striker Julian Alvarez this summer despite ongoing interest from several big clubs across Europe including Chelsea.

Manchester City will reject any offers for striker Julian Alvarez this summer amid ongoing interest from several big clubs across Europe including Chelsea, according to a report.

Alvarez completed his second season at City last term, scoring 19 goals for Pep Guardiola‘s team, which clinched a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Throughout the season, the 24-year-old featured in 54 matches across all competitions, ranking as the eighth-highest outfield player at City in terms of total minutes played.

The Argentinian World Cup winner has been unable to displace Erling Haaland as the first-choice forward for the Citizens, sparking speculation that he may be open to a move elsewhere.

Guardiola has no intention of parting ways with Alvarez this summer

However, according to Football Insider, it is highly improbable that Alvarez will leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, as Guardiola has no intention of entertaining offers for the 24-year-old.

The report adds that the Premier League champions hold the 24-year-old in high regard and are keen to retain his services for the foreseeable future.

It is understood that Atletico Madrid had made an approach to City about the prospect of a deal for Alvarez but the Premier League champions ‘flatly refused’ the Spanish giants offer.

Paris Saint-Germain were also believed to have enquired about a move for the Argentine, as they look to find a suitable replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who completed his move to Real Madrid last week.

The Metro recently reported that even if City were open to a sale, it would require a minimum bid of £67.9m before add-ons to pique their interest.

The forward was a key fixture in City’s lineup during injuries to Kevin De Bruyne and Haaland but was sidelined when both players returned to full fitness.

Alvarez set to remain at City for the foreseeable future

Alvarez originally joined City for an initial fee of £14m from Primera Division outfit River Plate in 2022 and currently has three years remaining on his contract.

He was provided with a new contract by City just over a year ago, which saw him extend his stay at the club until June 2028.

Alvarez featured in 54 matches across all competitions for Guardiola’s side during the 2023-24 campaign, starting in 39 of those games.

The Argentine will have the opportunity to add to his already impressive trophy haul this summer, as he is set to feature in Lionel Scaloni‘s squad for the upcoming Copa America.
