Northern coalition’s protest plan against Akpabio irresponsible – Arewa Renaissance group

The Arewa Renaissance Group, a socio-political organization committed to Northern Nigeria’s progress, has strongly condemned a recent statement by a coalition of Northern groups threatening to block federal highways.

The coalition issued the threat in protest against the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, demanding its immediate reversal.

In response, the Arewa Renaissance Group denounced the coalition’s stance as reckless and unpatriotic, warning that attempts to paralyze economic activities over Senate matters serve only selfish interests.

In a statement signed by Dr. Mustapha Ahmad, Spokesperson for the Arewa Renaissance Group, the organization expressed deep concern over the coalition’s threats.

“We are alarmed by this reckless call to shut down highways and disrupt national stability. At a time when our country faces serious challenges, such actions only inflame political tensions and harm ordinary Nigerians.”

The group urged the coalition to seek peaceful and constructive resolutions rather than resorting to threats.

“This is a matter between two individuals, and there is no justification for dragging the entire nation into it. What Nigeria needs most is peace—without peace, there can be no progress,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its neutrality in political disputes, the Arewa Renaissance Group distanced itself from what it described as attempts to manipulate public sentiment for personal gain.

“We refuse to be used as pawns in advancing individual interests. Nigerians will come to see that our priority remains the promotion of peace, unity, and national progress,” the group concluded.

As political tensions rise, the Arewa Renaissance Group’s call for restraint and dialogue underscores the broader challenge of maintaining stability and cohesion in Nigeria.
