The Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Frederick Akinruntan, has dismissed rumours making the rounds about his death.
The monarch, who disclosed that he is alive and hearty, stated that he is on a vacation outside his kingdom.
There were rumours on Tuesday about the demise of the monarch following weeks of speculation about his health.
According to a statement issued from the palace of the monarch, Olugbo, in a conference call that was facilitated by his lawyer, Sola Ebiseni, clarified that he has been on a short vacation and described reports of his alleged demise as false and misleading.
The monarch, who frowned at the spread of ‘baseless’ information, urged the public to verify facts before sharing also described the news of his death as a blessing for long life.
“I am hale and hearty. I have received several phone calls all over the world, particularly from Ondo State, about my death. I was advised by my lawyer on the need to speak to you people to dispel the wicked rumour.
“Of course I travelled for a short vacation and will be home soon”. In Yoruba land, such a rumour is a blessing for long life. Olugbo is alive and well.”
