At least two people have been confirmed dead after two planes crashed at a regional airport in the United States on Wednesday.
The crash occurred at Marana Regional Airport in Arizona, where police and emergency services are currently at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the total number of passengers and crew on board has yet to be confirmed.
However, the Marana Police Department has confirmed in a statement that there have been two fatalities.
The statement read: “The Marana Police Department is currently on the scene at the Marana Regional Airport, located at 11700 W. Avra Valley Rd., in response to an aircraft collision. Details are limited at this time.
“Media staging will be in the large dirt parking lot outside Marana Regional Airport. The FAA and NTSB will be responding.”
Marana Airport is uncontrolled, meaning it does not have an air traffic control tower.
The two planes involved in the mid-air collision have been identified as a Cessna 172S and a Lancair 360 MK II.
Just last week, one of two pilots died on a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil after the aircraft veered off a runway in Arizona and collided with a business jet.
There have been four major aviation incidents in North America in the past month.
