Police bust criminal hideout, arrest 20 in Taraba


The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 20 suspects and recovered arms and ammunition following a raid on a criminal hideout in Taraba State.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, at the Wamunchi dry season rice farms, was based on credible intelligence, according to a statement from the police.

Details of the raid were contained in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The post revealed that the operation led to the seizure of various weapons, including one AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, three Dane guns, a bow and arrow, and a motorcycle.

Confirming the development, a police spokesperson stated, “The 20 suspects, all male, were taken into custody and are currently being profiled. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) commended the officers involved in the operation for their swift response and assured residents of Taraba and beyond that the force remains committed to dismantling criminal networks.

The police also urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid in further crackdowns on criminal activities in the state.
