The operatives of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and the Railway Police Command have arrested two suspected vandals in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
According to NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, Mahmood Yakub, the arrests followed intelligence reports uncovering private buildings used as hideouts for stolen railway materials.
During the raid, authorities recovered 25 short rails and 91 sleepers, neatly stacked in two different buildings. The Railway Police Area Command stormed the premises, apprehending two suspects now held at the Railway Police Station, Kafanchan, as investigations continue to track other gang members still at large.
All recovered materials have been secured at the Railway District Police Station as exhibits.
The NRC has reiterated its commitment to stamping out railway vandalism.
Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa praised the successful operation and urged residents along railway corridors to report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
