The Kogi State Police Command has thwarted an attempted abduction of passengers along the Kabba-Ayere road, rescuing victims from armed kidnappers.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP William Aya, the incident occurred on Friday, prompting a swift response from officers attached to the Police Mobile Force (PMF), 70 Squadron, Kabba.
“On receipt of the distress call, reinforcement teams from Sharper Corner pindown were promptly mobilized to the scene. The officers engaged the hoodlums, and due to the superior firepower of the police, the criminals fled into the bush, abandoning their victims, who were safely rescued,” Aya revealed.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has since ordered the deployment of additional tactical teams to comb the surrounding bushes in a bid to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
Commending the officers for their swift intervention, Dantawaye reassured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring safety and tackling criminal activities in the state.
