Prioritise safety of lives, property of Kwara, Kogi residents- Yoruba group to Tinubu

A group championing the cause of Yoruba ethnic group, Yoruba World Congress Worldwide, YWC has enjoined the federal government to prioritise the safety of lives and property of the people of Kwara and Kogi States.

The group also advised governors of the two states to find ways to protect the lives and property of the people of the states.

YWC made these declarations via a statement made available to DAILY POST.

DAILY POST gathered that a traditional ruler had earlier raised an alarm that some unscrupulous elements who are armed with dangerous weapons have been terrorising the people of Kwara South and Okun people in Kogi state.

The traditional ruler in the video made available to DAILY POST called on the relevant stakeholders to intervene in the matter.

YWC in its reaction, advised the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kwara and Kogi State governments to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people of the two states.

The group in the statement signed by the duo of its Vice President, Adekunle Ogundana and the Secretary-General, Stephen Ajayi, also called on security agencies to fish out unscrupulous elements who are disturbing the peace of the people of the states especially those in the Kwara South Senatorial District and Kogi West Senatorial District.

The group maintained that residents of the two areas were fleeing their homes and farms, saying this would have adverse effects on the food supply chain.

“We are calling on security agencies to fish out unscrupulous elements who are disturbing the peace of the people of the states especially those in the Kwara South Senatorial District and Kogi West.

“The Federal government and all the arms of government should be more proactive in securing lives and properties rather than being reactive, it is not right to wait for the head to be cut off before shouting”.
