The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Honorable Ahmad Tijjani Sani Lawal, addressed the issue in a recent interview with newsmen in Kano, emphasizing that the decision was made with the welfare of the public in mind.
According to the Commissioner, the government’s intention is to allow students and families to fully engage in religious observances without disruption.
He explained that Ramadan is a sacred period for Muslims, and ensuring a conducive environment for worship is a priority for the administration.
He assured the public that such measures are taken within the framework of existing laws and policies.

He noted that any policy introduced, including school closures, is carefully considered to ensure it aligns with the interests of the people while maintaining order in the education sector.
In addition, the Commissioner called on the public to make the most of the fasting period by intensifying religious activities and prayers. He specifically urged citizens to include their leaders in their prayers, highlighting the importance of seeking divine guidance for those in positions of authority.
