Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino says he’s not paying too much attention to speculation that he’s wanted at Barcelona this summer.
Merino is one of a host of midfielders linked with the Catalan giants as Joan Laporta and Co. try to strengthen the squad.
The 27-year-old is currently on international duty with Spain and was asked about the current talk surrounding his future.
“From the first moment I have always said that any rumor about me is positive because it means that Real Sociedad is doing things well,” he told reporters.
“If they have players in the showcase it is good. But the importance that I give it zero. I am focused on trying to win the European Championship, the rest is a loss of concentration regarding the main objective.
“I leave it in the hands of my agent. I only want to hear when it is something serious or definitive.”
Barcelona are still waiting to hear if they can return to the 1:1 rule this summer before firming up their transfer plans. A decision is expected at some point this week.
