Second EMY Africa Lagos Soiree holds September 7 — Saturday Magazine — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

If you want something to puff off in Africa, the first place you go to is Nigeria, Latasha Ngwube, EMY Africa’s Lagos Soiree (LS) media strategist has said, as she explained the ideology behind the LS initiative and the oncoming second edition set to make another triumphant return to Lagos on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

She said: “The EMY Awards convener, an initiative committed to celebrating African excellence, felt it was time for the whole of Africa to expand but anyone who knows their onions knows that if you want something to puff off in Africa, the first place you go to is Nigeria.”

According to her, “Nigeria is a natural first step for them in terms of expanding the brand, creating awareness and showcasing their work. Lagos is the first stop, which is what gave birth to Lagos Soiree, a night of celebration, glamour, excitement, fashion, music, entertainment, good food, great ambience and networking so that Nigeria who want to be a part of the EMY Awards can be there.”

On expectations for LS 2, she said, “we have a bigger mandate. The EMY brand itself has also expanded this year. We have had the EMY expo earlier on, that is the fashion and retail event, we have had the London Sooire too.  So the Lagos Sooire, which is the last stop before they head back to Ghana for the main EMY Awards ceremony October 26, 2024 in Ghana, we have a bigger venue, entertainment, more Ghanaian and Nigeria celebrities coming this year, we have more brands onboard.”

Remarking, Founders, EMY Africa, Kojo Soboh, said, “the EMY Africa agenda is to promote African excellence and greatness. The yearly EMY Africa Awards honours men who have demonstrated good values, distinguished themselves in their diverse fields of endeavour and are committed to societal progress. It also gives complementary awards to women who have made an impact in society.”

The EMY Africa Awards has in the past nine years elevated countless achievers across local industries, communities, culture, and public service in Africa and beyond by celebrating and spotlighting their inspirational achievements.

From Nigeria, notable figures that have been honoured on the EMY Awards platform include Akinwumi Adesina, Tony Elumelu, Richard Mofe Damajo (RMD), Adebola Williams, Lanre Olusola, Seyi Tinubu, Ayo Animashaun, Micheal Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and Ayo Makun.
