Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey aren’t ready to say goodbye to their Bridgerton characters just yet.
The actress, who plays Kate on the hit Netflix series, shared at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, via People, whether she plans to continue her onscreen romance with Bailey’s Anthony in season four.
“I really hope so,” Ashley said of reprising their roles.
“Both Johnny and I, we adore our characters, Kate and Anthony, so much and their relationship and what they mean for the show,” she continued. “I think we’ll do all we can with our schedules to make it work so that we can, hopefully.”
Kate and Anthony led the drama romance series in season two with an “enemies to lovers” trope. They also appeared throughout season three, which centered on Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope’s (Nicola Coughlan) relationship. However, their future in the show was left up in the air as their characters decided at the end of the latest season to travel from London to Kate’s hometown in India to welcome their first child.
Another question swirling amongst fans is which Bridgerton sibling will lead season four, with some speculating it will be either Eloise or Benedict. But audiences will likely have to wait two years for an answer, according to showrunner Jess Brownell.
“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language,” she recently told The Hollywood Reporter about when she expects the next season to arrive. “And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.”
Bridgerton season three is currently streaming on Netflix.
