Troops arrest two for kidnapping in Taraba — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News


Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested two suspected kidnappers in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation, which occurred on September 16, 2024, also resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and a cache of ammunition.

According to a statement by Capt. Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 6 Brigade, the arrest followed intelligence gathering on a criminal syndicate involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal arms trafficking.

One of the suspects, Ali Tambaya from Wanzani village, was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle and 42 rounds of 7.62MM ammunition.

He confessed to purchasing the rifle for N500,000 five years ago from one Alhaji Dandi and obtained ammunition for N1,000 each.

Following Tambaya’s confession, troops apprehended Alhaji Dandi, while efforts are ongoing to track down another suspect, Alhaji Kiwo, who reportedly provided Tambaya with some of the ammunition.

The military commended the troops for their efforts and reiterated their commitment to eliminating criminal activities in Taraba State.

The public was urged to continue providing timely and accurate information to aid security operations.
