HOUSTON — A dramatic car crash was caught on camera in southeast Houston Sunday morning.
This happened just before 9:30 a.m. on Palmsprings Drive, which is in a neighborhood east of the Gulf Freeway near Fuqua Street.
Video from a neighbor’s surveillance camera appears to show the car veer off the roadway before flipping and plowing into a home. While the Houston Police Department wouldn’t comment on the crash, neighbors told KHOU 11 that speeding is an issue in the area.
The homeowner, Eloisa Cavanaugh, said she initially thought a bomb had gone off.
“My whole house just shook and I heard glass popping everywhere and then when it finished I said ‘What was that.’ I thought it was a bomb at first. I thought it was and I saw the smoke coming into my house I said oh my goodness,” she said.
Cavanaugh was not injured.
A neighbor shared a photo with KHOU 11 that appeared to show the driver trying to use a garden hose to put out a small fire. The driver’s condition is unknown.
