President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday, one day after a similar discussion with President Vladimir Putin.
In a post on Truth Social, the President described his talks with the Ukrainian leader as “a very good telephone call.” The conversation lasted approximately one hour.
Trump said much of the discussion was based on his earlier call with President Putin “in order to align both Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs.”
The US leader also indicated that a ceasefire agreement might soon come into effect.
“We are very much on track,” he wrote.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz are expected to provide “an accurate description of the points Trump and Zelenskyy discussed.”
President Trump has been serving as a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine war since returning to the White House in January.
