Alan Shearer (Blackburn to Newcastle, 1996)
After winning the Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers in the 1994/95 season, Shearer departed for a then world-record transfer fee to boyhood club Newcastle United two years later.
He scored 148 goals in 303 Premier League matches during a 10-season spell with the Magpies, going on to become the League’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals, a record that remains to this day.
Thierry Henry (Juventus to Arsenal, 1999)
While Henry initially took his time to adapt to the Premier League, once he did, there was simply no stopping him.
The Frenchman score 20 or more Premier League goals in five consecutive seasons for Arsenal between 2001/02 and 2005/06 and won the competition twice.
A key member of the “Invincibles” team who went unbeaten during the 2003/04 title-winning campaign, Henry earned the Golden Boot award four times and scored a club-record 175 Premier League goals in 258 matches for the Gunners.
Frank Lampard (West Ham to Chelsea, 2001)
Making the short trip from east to west London, Lampard would go on to become one of the Premier League’s most complete midfielders.
During his 13-year career at Stamford Bridge, Lampard won the Premier League three times and was named Premier League Player of the Season for 2004/05.
He became Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer in 2013 and his 177 goals are the most by any midfielder in the competition’s history.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Sporting Lisbon to Man Utd, 2003)
The 18-year-old inspired Sporting Lisbon to a pre-season friendly win against the defending champions – and this was all Sir Alex Ferguson needed to see to bring Ronaldo to Old Trafford.
In his first spell between 2003 and 2009, the Portuguese lifted three Premier League titles and and was twice named EA SPORTS Player of the Season.
Ronaldo also won the Golden Boot in 2007/08 with 31 goals in 34 matches.
Didier Drogba (Marseille to Chelsea, 2004)
Drogba was instrumental in Chelsea’s successive Premier League title successes in 2004/05 and 2005/06 after arriving in the summer of 2004.
So often the man for the big occasion, the Ivory Coast striker saved his very best for 2009/10, when he scored 29 goals in 32 Premier League appearances to claim his second Golden Boot award and inspire his, and Chelsea’s, third title triumph.
After leaving in 2012, he returned two years later and played a part in the Blues’ fourth and his final Premier League Trophy.
Wayne Rooney (Everton to Man Utd, 2004)
Having burst on to the scene as a 16-year-old at Everton and then starring at UEFA EURO 2004, Rooney was snapped up by Manchester United.
During 13 seasons at Old Trafford, Rooney struck 183 Premier League goals to become the club’s record scorer in the competition. He won the League five times, including three in a row between 2006/07 and 2008/09.
Thanks to a combination of raw talent and technical ability, he was named Player of the Month five times and won the Player of the Season award in 2009/10.
Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid to Man City, 2011)
The Argentinian marked his Premier League debut with two goals against Swansea City and would end his time at Manchester City with 184 goals in the competition, the most by an overseas player and the highest total for one club, including a Premier League record 12 hat-tricks.
His iconic goal earned City’s first Premier League title in dramatic fashion in May 2012, scoring deep into stoppage time to earn a 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers.
Aguero also won the 2014/15 Golden Boot and claimed a joint-record seven EA SPORTS Player of the Month awards.
Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg to Man City, 2015)
After nearly two years in the German Bundesliga, De Bruyne returned to England and has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the competition’s history.
He has created 112 goals, the second-most for all-time Premier League assists and has claimed the Premier League Playmaker of the Season award three times, more than any other player.
The Belgian has twice been named EA SPORTS Player of the Season and has helped City win the title six times.
N’Golo Kante (Caen to Leicester, 2015)
The diminutive Frenchman’s first taste of life in the top flight came at Leicester City after he signed from French club Caen in August 2015.
In a historic 2015/16 debut season, Kante helped the Foxes produce one of the greatest stories in the competition’s history, featuring in 37 of their 38 matches as Leicester were crowned Premier League champions.
It would be Kante’s only season at Leicester before he left to join Chelsea, where he claimed his second league title and won the EA SPORTS Player of the Season award.
Mohamed Salah (Roma to Liverpool, 2017)
In his seven seasons at Anfield, Salah has smashed club and Premier League records and has been one of Liverpool‘s most pivotal figures.
A double Premier League Golden Boot winner, the Egyptian has also won the Premier League title, Playmaker of the Season award and five EA SPORTS Player of the Month awards.
