Sarina Wiegman’s side beat Germany in the final to win their first major tournament three years ago, but they are not the favourites for 2025
On Monday, the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 group stage draw will take the excitement for next summer’s tournament up another notch, as the likes of England, Spain and Germany discover just who they will face when they get to Switzerland in July. With the hosts in Pot 1, the holders in Pot 2 and some dangerous nations like the Netherlands and Sweden in Pot 3, some intriguing groups are sure to be put together, too.
England will be the defending champions at the tournament, having beaten Germany 2-1 in extra-time at Wembley in the 2022 final. The Lionesses have had success since that triumph, reaching a first-ever Women’s World Cup final, but they were beaten by another European nation on that occasion, in Spain. Making the build-up to this Euros all the more intriguing is the fact that those two will meet twice before the tournament begins, in the new Women’s Nations League campaign that begins in February.
