Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni said the implementation of the N1.4 billion Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance, MPCA support programme approved by the State Executive Council will be closely monitored
The governor made the commitment through his spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, in a statement issued on Thursday.
He said a monitoring programme is being put in place to ensure that only genuine and deserving victims benefit from the assistance.
“Government would ensure that the 25,500 beneficiaries identified for the support are truly victims who fall within the category of the deserving persons.
“The intervention is intended to assist the victims and government is committed to providing succour to all deserving victims of floods across the state and other vulnerable persons,” Buni said.
DAILY POST had reported that the State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Buni, at its last meeting on Monday, approved the sum of N1.4 billion in cash support to 25,500 victims of flood disasters and other vulnerable persons across the state.
The State Executive Council approved N50,000 cash support to each of the 25,500 beneficiaries across the state.
The council also approved 1,500 persons to benefit from each of the 17 local government areas.
The council mentioned the traditional institutions, the State Emergency Management Agency, and women and youth groups for community engagement and proper identification of the beneficiaries.
Governor Buni explained that government would continue to provide support to all victims in the state to give them a true sense of belonging.
He charged officials entrusted with the responsibility to execute their duties with fairness and objectivity.
