Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, says it received with shock and serious concern last Monday’s attack on members of the State’s Community Protection Guards, CPG, which left nine members of the guards dead.
This was contained in a statement issued by the State party’s publicity secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau and made available to newsmen in Gusau.
“We join other well-meaning citizens to condole the State government and the family members of the gallant CPG guards”, the statement added.
“The ambush by fleeing bandits on these security guards who sacrificed their lives in order to bring peace to our communities will definitely not go unpunished as we are very certain that the ongoing onslaught against armed bandits in the northwest states by the federal government will fish out the culprits and make sure they face the consequences of their actions.
“No doubt, members of the CPG are making an appreciable sacrifice to support the military operations succeed in the State.
“We wish to call on the State government to assist the bereaved families of the deceased as we encourage the CPG not to be dissuaded by the unfortunate development as well as be more vigilant.
“We wish also to call on communities in the State to always alert security personnel on the movement of the bandits to forestall all possible attacks and confrontation.
“We pray Allah to admit these gallant gentlemen martyrs in Jannaatu Firdausi,” the statement read.
