President Bola Tinubu has charged proprietors to ensure the utmost safety of their schools.
Tinubu made the call while mourning the death of pupils from a Zamfara Islamic school.
A fire outbreak that spread to an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, on Tuesday night led to the death of some students.
The president commiserated with the state government and owners of the school while praying for the quick recovery of those receiving medical attention.
A statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said: “The President enjoins all public and private schools to prioritise children’s safety and security at all times and directs regulatory authorities in the education sector to ensure compliance with safety standards.
“The President prays that God Almighty will grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed and comfort to their loved ones.”
