Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is set to be able to call on a fully fit squad for their Champions League final, with the exceptions of David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni. Yet if he was considering starting Andriy Lunin ahead of Thibaut Courtois against Borussia Dortmund, he will now have to consider the fact that the Ukrainian will be going into the match cold.
Lunin missed training on Monday and Tuesday with a fever, and despite Diario AS saying that he continued to improve on Wednesday, returning to training in the process, he was forced to train alone. Los Blancos did not want to run the risk of the virus spreading, and so kept Lunin apart from his teammates, ahead of their trip to London on Thursday.
All reports state that it will be Thibaut Courtois that Carlo Ancelotti opts for in goal at Wembley, but the Italian has been playing it coy on his thinking ahead of the final. Barring a major surprise, it will be the Belgian between the sticks, and if Ancelotti had any doubts, then Lunin’s unfortunate start to the week will have only pushed him further in that direction.
