Adamawa chief seeks Tinubu’s intervention

A Traditional titleholder in Adamawa State, Jarma Adamawa, Mustafa Tahir has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing Kano Emirate tussle.

Tahir called on Tinubu to “resolve the crisis and ensure the restoration of peace and stability in the state” on Saturday at the Emir’s palace shortly after he led a delegation of Northeast Traditional Titleholders to pay homage and “mubaaya” to the reinstated Emir Muhammad Sanusi II.

Speaking on the signing of the Kano Emirate Council (repeal) bill 2024, he said since the state House of Assembly was constitutionally empowered to enact laws, he saw no reason why anyone let alone the court would question the legality of its powers.

He also said that while the “state assembly must enact laws for good governance, government while acting in line with its constitutional powers for the welfare and security of its citizens needs the support and cooperation of the Federal Government”.

On the rumours making the rounds that the National Security Adviser, had interfered in the crisis, and escalated it, Tahir said the allegation besides being untrue was also unfounded.

While describing the NSA as a true leader and lover of peace he appealed to all to remain calm and disregard in totality “the mischievous report on Mallam Ribadu”.

The Dan Jarma who thanked Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the good people of Kano State among others for their positive stance on the matter said politicians need to be reminded of this time to refrain from interference through their utterances not to plunge the state into chaos.

There has been tension in the state following the installation of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano by the state governor, Abba Yusuf on Friday after deposing the Aminu Ado Bayero as the Emir of Kano.

On Sunday, Bayero’s supporters took to the streets of the city, calling for his reinstatement and demanding that Yusuf comply with a recent court order.
