Coventry Dynamite’s Lady Grenades will perform in the semi-final on Tuesday

A cheerleading team said they want to deliver a high-energy performance and inspire others into their sport in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

Coventry Dynamite’s Lady Grenades will take to the stage on Tuesday to perform in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli during the live broadcast of ITV’s hit talent show.

The audience has been promised by the group an appearance that will showcase the team’s athleticism, artistry and team spirit which they said “define this exhilarating sport”.

The squad won plaudits during the first round of the contest and received a “yes” from all four judges, with Cowell describing them as “absolutely brilliant”.

The Lady Grenades’ team captain Leshay Bravo said: “We are thrilled and honoured to perform on the legendary Britain’s Got Talent stage.

“This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the athleticism of cheerleading.

“We hope to inspire other athletes and bring more recognition to this amazing sport in the UK.”

The squad said they were hoping to win a place in the grand final

The Lady Grenades, made up of members aged between 13 and 19, have won numerous national and international titles, most recently coming third at the Cheerleading World Championships.

Speaking to BBC Radio CWR, team member Izy said she was excited for the semi-final, adding she was looking forward to seeing hosts Ant and Dec as well as “performing and having a great time”.

Teammate Phoebe said: “It’s a big opportunity to perform on Britain’s Got Talent.”

The Lady Grenades will compete for a place in the show’s grand final with the overall winner getting a £250,000 prize and earning a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.

Their semi-final will air on ITV at 20:00 BST on Tuesday.
