FC Barcelona Puts ‘More Than Half Of Squad’ Up For Sale

FC Barcelona has put more than half of its squad up for sale according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

The end of the financial year on June 30 is fast approaching, and Barca needs to offload some players to help balance the books and hopefully return to the 1:1 rule under Financial Fair Play limits.

Furthermore, this will also prove key to Sporting Director Deco and new head coach Hansi Flick perhaps being able to head to the market and make a big signing or two, and not relying solely on cut-rate fee purchases and free transfers.

Between them, the pair has specified a number of “untouchables” across the first team who are considered to be non-transferable.

According to SPORT, they are namely Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez and goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen – but that doesn’t mean every player not listed here is up for sale as each case should be studied individually.

For example, center back Ronald Araujo was previously thought to be on his way out of the club. With the arrival of Flick, however, his position has “radically changed” and the German wants him to renew his contract.

Because of this, the Uruguayan would only be offloaded if an offer that was too good to refuse – perhaps from Flick’s former club Bayern Munich or the Premier League – came in.

Two attackers that bids will be heard for in any case are Ferran Torres and Raphinha, with the former failing to nail down the left wing spot and the latter – who usually occupies the right – placed there because of the emergence of Lamine Yamal.

Joining the club in January, as part of a deal which could reach north of $60 million in value, Vitor Roque never got a fair chance from Xavi but might have opportunities to impress under Flick.

Even so, Barca will listen to loan proposals that come in for the young Brazilian, who A Bola have linked with a potential move to the Blaugrana’s Portuguese Champions League group foes last season, Porto, in recent weeks.
