No Nigerian Should be held captive: Peter Obi

Following the release of  pupils taken by gunmen in a mass abduction in the north-western town of Kuriga earlier this month have been freed unharmed. The Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi has released a statement concerning the kidnapped children that were abducted.

“It is comforting to hear that 287 school children abducted in Kaduna have been released. It is hard to imagine the mental pain and trauma the children must have gone through in the hands of their abductors.”

The Nigerian Army also deserves special commendation for showing that with courage, determination and commitment, criminal elements can be degraded and security restored in our communities.

The report of their release is however reassuring to the nation and their parents that the government  security agencies are all making immense efforts to see that its citizens are safe and secure. The children released from captivity are reunited with their families.

He also said that effort should be made, not just to release many people in different kidnappers dens across the country, but to end the scourge of insecurity completely. We must ensure that every Nigerian is safe in Nigerian, by not giving terrorist any operating space in our nation. No Nigerian should be ever be a captive or held hostage anywhere in his/her fatherland.

He further encourage every Nigerian, in midst of these dark and fearful nights in our nation where danger seem to be lurking on every corner, to remain hopeful for the new dawn of a safe and secure nation.
