NOA released correct national anthem, DG replies Akpabio

The National Orientation Agency has reaffirmed that the official version of the National Anthem, recently unveiled, remains the accurate lyrics as approved in the act signed by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2024.

The agency last Wednesday, released a standardised version of the national anthem, following consultations with stakeholders after several versions had surfaced across the country. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/breaking-standardised-lyrics-of-reintroduced-national-anthem-released/%3famp

However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session earlier today, asked the NOA to stop circulating the wrong national anthem as it was not the version approved by the Senate. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/stop-circulating-wrong-national-anthem-akpabio-tells-noa/%3famp

In response to media inquiries, the Director General of the NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu in a statement signed by Paul Odenyi, NOA’s Deputy Director of Press, emphasized that the agency was committed to promoting only the official version as mandated by the act of Parliament.

He expressed concerns that the Senate President was misquoted, and urged the media to verify their information before publication.

He also advised journalists to consult the act signed by the President, as approved by the National Assembly, to confirm the NOA-released version.

“The official version that we issued remains the correct lyrics. We are making an effort to standardize the instrumental and audio versions before we release them to the public,” Issa-Onilu stated.

The agency also reiterated its commitment to ensuring the dissemination of accurate information regarding the National Anthem.
